Under the direction and supervision of an RN, assists the nurse coordinator and the physicians in the office setting for NEMG and surgical oncology patients. Position will provide care such as vital signs, setting patients up in the exam room, paperwork, assist with ADLs, etc.. All under the direction of the nurse and physician.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Under the direction and supervion of an RN, will assist with clinic coordination and preparation which includes pre op clearance, pathology reports and other clinical information.
    • 1.1 Reviews schedule
  • 2. Performs rooming, vital signs and documents correctly all pertinent information as requested by nurse and physician
  • 3. Responsible for supply ordering and room stocking and assures physician carts are stocked prior to each clinic
  • 4. Assists with medical exams, procedures and treatments for different sub specialties during clinics. Is knowledgeable and familiar with sub specialist needs and treatments including setting up rooms, supplies and special equipment
  • 5. Assists with minor surgical procedures (i.e. suturing, scopes, drains and other procedures) as necessary in clinic. Monitors patients for comfort and privacy
  • 6. Provides excellent environment to assure a positive patient family centered experience. Attends and anticipates the needs of patients and family members. Keeps patients and family members informed about delays.
  • 7. Practices the hospital's high reliability concepts and uses to assure safe and effective patient care. Maintains the hospitals mission vision and values in the workplace.
  • 8. Maintains a neat, orderly, clean and organized physical environment. Pre washes all used equipment prior to delivery to central sterile. Coordinates assuring equipment is properly sterilized and ready for clinics.
  • 9. Cross trains to assist when administrative staff are not available i.e. answer phones, able to check patients in and out

Qualifications

EDUCATION


High school graduate or equivalent.
Either has gone through CNA course or certified medical assistant course.


EXPERIENCE


Minimum of 2 years related experience. Broad knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pathology, blood-borne pathogens, and universal precautions. Medical equipment Knowledge: EKG, Sphygmomanometer, otoscope, thermometer, scale. Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Word, Outlook. EPIC EMR a plus


LICENSURE


Certified and/or registered as a Medical Assistant. Or CNA certified.
CPR trained


SPECIAL SKILLS


Excellent patient experience skills, organized able to work in a fast paced environment


PHYSICAL DEMAND


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and/or hear. They are also required to stand and walk. They must occasionally lift and/or move up to 26 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, perpheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment if usually moderate.
