Performs all tasks related to obtaining and disseminating appropriate patient clinical information including information verification, data entry procedures in multiple hospital information systems, specimen verification for adequacy of testing, specimen acceptance and processing, printing of reports, and providing related information to appropriate health care personnel. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Computer skills are required. Experience in specimen processing preferred.
Ability to work independantly in a fast paced environment. Knowledge of laboratory and diagnostic terminology is helpful. Good telephone/communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated attention to detail.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
