The Palliative Care Physician will lead our outpatient oncology efforts at Yale New Haven Health—Smilow/Bridgeport Hospital Campus. This is an opportunity to build an oncology focused practice, with leadership and growth opportunities within the Yale New Haven Health System, all at our new state-of-the-art outpatient facility.  As a part of Yale New Haven Health, Bridgeport Hospital offers cancer care and treatment at Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Centers in Fairfield and Park Avenue Medical Center in Trumbull. Cancer patients who are admitted to Bridgeport Hospital are cared for by specially trained staff on a dedicated oncology unit.

The practice will involve expanding relationships with referring staff, development of oncology specific expertise, education at all levels (GME, Medical and Nursing Staff, Community), and operations related to the clinic experience. YNHH—Bridgeport Hospital Campus offers a wide range of patient populations, and outstanding clinical and academic relationships with the Yale New Haven Health main campus and Yale University. Opportunities for scholarly work and collaboration across campuses exist. Position will be primarily outpatient, but remain integrated with the inpatient hospital team for reciprocal coverage and support. Inpatient team is well established (7 years), fully interdisciplinary, and has a warm and supportive culture. The position will report to the Medical Director of Palliative Care, Bridgeport Hospital, and reside within the Center for Geriatrics and Palliative Care, offering additional collaborative benefits with Geriatrics. Fairfield County has much offer including culture, great neighborhoods, restaurants, hiking, boating, and excellent school systems - all equidistant to New York City and Boston.

To be part of our organization, every employee should understand and share in the YNHHS Vision, support our Mission, and live our Values. These values—integrity, patient-centered, respect, accountability, and compassion—must guide what we do, as individuals and professionals, every day.

Since 2010, community and hospital-based physicians and advanced practitioners have benefited from our affiliation with the region’s five leading hospitals: Bridgeport, Greenwich, Yale New Haven, Lawrence and Memorial, New London and Westerly. NEMG enjoys clinical partnerships and has over 800 practitioners on our medical staff.

Caregivers at Smilow Cancer Hospital and our Care Centers work hard to help patients and their families navigate through their cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment plans. A multidisciplinary approach is used to evaluate and treat all patients. Physicians meet to discuss every patient's care and related diagnostic and treatment strategies, resulting in the development of a unique and comprehensive treatment plan for each patient that can include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, a combination of treatments, investigational drugs through clinical trails, or conservative monitoring. Our physicians, nurses and caregivers are committed to meeting the needs and expectations of our patients by offering comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, psychological and spiritual support, supportive care and long-term, follow-up care.  Patients and providers have direct access to sub-specialists and leaders in the field of cancer research as care requires.

In affiliation with Smilow Cancer Hospital and Yale Cancer Center, Bridgeport Hospital is one of only 16 U.S. accredited cancer programs to receive a 2017 Outstanding Achievement Award from the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Commission on Cancer (CoC). Learn more about the award
