A cardiac rehabilitation nurse utilizes the nursing process to offer a multifaceted and multidisciplinary approach to overall cardiovascular risk reduction, foster healthy behaviors, reduce disability, and promote an active lifestyle for patients with cardiovascular disease. The nurse serves as a liaison between patient and physician to facilitate expeditious and effective medical care. Participates in running Project Heart Smart when offered and in the Heart Beats Volunteer group as needed. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be necessary and assigned.
Registered Nurse in the state of Connecticut. Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing. Those with a Diploma or Associate's Degree need to show evidence that they are actively enrolled in a BSN or MSN program. Acute care experience. Telemetry trained. Exercise training, group dynamic skills or experience related to primary and secondary cardiac prevention.
Cardiology, physical rehabilitation, community health, teaching, exercise training or public health training .
Licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Connecticut, preferable with a bachelor’s degree. Telemetry trained.
Advanced knowledge of cardiovascular disease, telemetry trained, exercise physiology, cardiac risk factor modification, counseling techniques, nutrition, group dynamic and cardiovascular health education principles.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, talk and hear. The employee is also required to demonstrate and model aerobic, strength training and flexibility exercises to classes. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. the employee should be a passionate advocate of a Heart Heathy Lifestyle.
